Four quarters

"Four families formed the first settling nucleus. Large clans (hamoulas) grew from them, whose offspring wove close relationships, until the difference blurred and the inhabitants of Umm el-Fahem all became a big family.

Life in the village ran its course with close affinity between man and his surroundings."
Said Abu Shaqra
(director of the Umm el Fahem Gallery and my kind host)
